Best family & beginner via ferrata in the Écrins, Briançon and Queyras

The Écrins, Briançon and Queyras has a wide range of Via ferrata, with something for everyone. Below are the best routes for families and beginners, these are the easiest routes and great for smaller kids or those new to the sport. These routes have been made with family and beginners in mind they are easy angles and with rungs places in reach for those with smaller reach. Remember when taking children on via ferrata, check you have equipment that is suitable for their weight and the use of a rope is highly recommended.

1) La combe - Puy Saint Vincent

Probably the best family route in the area, made up of bridges and rock sections, with the option to walk around any of the harder sections.

2) L'Horloge - L'Argentiere

A very short route perfect for an introduction to via ferrata.

3) Gorges de la Durance yellow - L'Argentiere

Designed for kids over 4, this short and low level route is a great place to get the little ones in to via ferrata.

4) Gorges de la Durance green - L'Agrentiere

One of the routes in the Durance Gorge, this green route traverses above the Durance river and gives a great experience.

5) Rocher du Bez yellow - Briançon

Le Bez is a great place to go if your a beginner to via ferrata, with two easy routes start on this one then try the green.

6) Rocher du Bez Green - Briançon

The slightly hard route at la Bez, it's a green route but there are some tricky moves on it.

7) L'arête de la Schappe - Briançon

Based in the Schappe park in Briançon, this arête is a good route with view up the Briançon gorge and the Briançon old town fort.
