Description:
The dominate cliff face overlooking Briançon old town and fort offers a great via ferrata with stunning views down the Durance valley. From the parking cross the road, and head up a small side street, next to the pizza restaurant (some parking at the top of this street but often its full). Follow the main track rightwards until the sign sends you left, then right up long switch backs to the start. The route goes straight up the face on staples and rock hold (some of the rock hold are polished and can be slippery) with a few steep bits. Cross the small bridge leading to rock scrambling and a path section with no cable, from the path a new cable leads over a ridge, and on to the top, the route finishes at a viewing platform.
To descend take the signed path rightwards it’s a long but pleasant decent with another old fort near the bottom.
