A long walk with some steep paths, the descent from the summit is not for the faint hearted, but for those with a head for heights, sure footedness and good navigation skills, it delivers a great walk with stunning views of the Écrins
Description:
From the parking follow the road NW until you reach a gate,go round this and follow the track to the col de la Trancoulette, from the col head west passing a small lake towards the col de Vallouise. At the col the path doubles back and then north, this climbs up to open rolling mountain tops and easy walking to the summit easy to spot with its aerial.
The descent on the northern edge of the Cime de la Condamineis very steep and on scree, it leads down to a ridge, the path can be hard to spot even in good visibility. If poor visibility or you just not sure it’s better to go back the way you came.
Once on the ridge follow this north until it bends east to another lower col near the 2642 M height, go through the col and then descend, there may be no paths or sections with no paths for this bit, you are heading for the Ravin Melivrin. Follow the stream to the 2214 M height and an obvious path appears, follow this down, you have a choice to detour to the Lac des partias. Either way you then descend the main track that leads back to the gate by the road and then the parking.
